Moving the plumbing to a different wall, adding an external door or building in a drying cupboard push it higher, and we itemise each of those in the quote so you can see what each one costs.
Small laundries are most of what we do, and they are the ones where design earns its money. In two square metres the answer is usually a stacked washer and dryer, a full-height cupboard beside them, a slimline tub with the bench running over the machines, and a wall of open shelving rather than overhead cupboards that you cannot reach past the machines. We measure your actual appliances, not generic sizes — 10kg front loaders vary by more than people expect.
Most laundries are finished within one to three weeks. A compact laundry with joinery and no plumbing changes can be done in about a week. A full laundry with new tiling, waterproofing and relocated plumbing runs closer to three, largely because waterproofing has to cure before tiling and joinery needs manufacturing lead time.
Yes, and it is the step most commonly skipped by cheaper operators. A laundry has a floor waste, a tub, and a washing machine that will one day leak or overflow — the National Construction Code treats it as a wet area for good reason. We waterproof the floor and the wet wall zones to Australian Standards and issue the certificate, exactly as we would in a bathroom.
Generally not, and you should plan for that. The laundry is out of action from strip-out until the plumbing is reconnected. If the machines are staying, we store them protected on site; if they are being replaced, delivery is timed for the fit-off week. For most households that means a laundromat run or two, and we will tell you exactly which days.
Very often that is the best answer, especially in Inner West terraces and older apartments where the laundry sits off the bathroom and both are undersized. Renovating them together lets us move a wall or steal 300mm from the wrong side of it, and the shared trades, waterproofing and tiling make the combined job much cheaper than two separate ones.

Two to ten years depending on the element, same as our bathrooms — waterproofing carries the longest cover, joinery and hardware their own. You get the waterproofing certificate and warranty documentation at handover, and manufacturer warranties on fittings pass through in your name.
